This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an educator who is passionate about bringing history to life, National History Day offers a new way for students to learn about our past and how it can be used to inform the future.

National History Day is a rigorous PBL based program that teaches middle and high school students how to research, write a thesis, and present their findings at a local, state, and national level.

Students may choose to present an individual or group project and design a project in one of five categories: paper, exhibit, website, performance, documentary on a topic based upon an annual theme.

Through National History Day, students learn how to effectively research a topic, analyze primary and secondary sources, summarize their findings in 1200 words or less, and present their findings to a panel of judges. This competition prepares students for high school, college, and the work force, as well as gives them opportunities to engage in areas of academia that the typical educational system does not allow.
