Middle School Family Math Night: Empowering Families and Providing Resources

My Project

Middle school family math night is a family engagement activity to provide families with resources and information on how they can support their scholars' math development. At family math night, we will provide free, online and physical resources.

Families often express frustration that they do not know how to help scholars with their homework.

We also hope to make math feel accessible, and show families how they can practice math that is related to real life with their scholars at home.

We see that lack of math fact fluency makes reaching middle school standards very challenging for a majority of our students. For that reason, we are requesting multiplication and division flashcards for students to use at home with their families. We are also requesting math games, in particular a budgeting game, so that families can practice math in a way that is both fun and applicable to real life.
