This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One challenge our school has faced since merging to a TK-8th grade school has been making sure that there are enough activities available to our middle school students. During lunch recess, many of our students, who don't enjoy playing basketball or soccer, don't have a lot of options for things to do so they often sit around or are on their phones. One way we are trying to encourage other activities is offering different clubs that students have shared interest in. I hope to start a weekly craft club using kits that involve beads and yarn for our middle schoolers.

Most of our students are so creative and this club would be a great way for them to find new outlets, learn new crafts, and spend time engaging with each other.
