My Students
I am an AIS teacher located in New York City. I teach eager kindergarten, first, second, and third-grade children who are struggling readers and writers. My students are devoted to learning but need a different approach toward their education. They need small group instruction that uses many types of manipulatives.
When my children are successful, the look of wonder in their eyes is a sight to behold.
It is truly what makes being a teacher the best job in the world.
My Project
Distance learning has been a tremendous strain on my teaching. I am simply not equipped to teach from home. Weeks later, I discovered I really need a few things to make this entire experience a success. But then they brought my students back to the school building. The funny thing is we still need this item.
My students have been under a lot of stress and would love to use the computer to write about their feelings.
Sometimes I have a keyboard that will enable them to type with ease. I have also found that children wind up talking about their stories while they are writing.
Another benefit to having a Microsoft keyboard is it will enable me to smoothly teach and talk at the same time.
My struggling to use the touch keyboard is just a hardship.
I also could use Post-it note easel pads to write on. My children need the visual as we are learning. A docking station will keep me organized and able to download material from my thumb drive.
