This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in an elementary school that serves an economically depressed neighborhood. There is a 95% socioeconomically disadvantaged student population. 95% of the population is Hispanic with 76% of them designated as English language learners. My students are amazing and deserve all the love and support that they can get!
This project will provide students will access to microscopes to use in small groups.
One of our units in 6th grade is cells, providing students with a microscope will allow students to 'see' and broaden their understanding of cells. These microscopes, in particular also allow me to project images from the microscope off of my phone for the whole class to see! By helping me provide my students with microscopes you will help our students grow their understanding and love of learning science.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
