My Students
I recently discussed with our principal how it's fortunate our students ask many interesting questions and how they stay curious about the world around them. They're eager to find reasons as to why things in the world happen and they truly enjoy sharing their thoughts. It's been a few months working with them and I'm still happy to say they continue to have that enthusiasm for science!
My students are full of energy, they're curious, and they're a strong-minded group of individuals living in a neighborhood that doesn't support that about them yet.
Through the excitement of having a science class at their school, I want them to have the necessary tools that are used in the science world so they can best nurture that natural curiosity through hands-on activities.
My Project
When I think of middle school science, I think of the students doing the cheek cell lab and sketching what they see. I think of the microscope lab where kids are learning about the microscope and identifying the different parts.
All students deserve to be able to get these experiences and work with these types of labs to see for themselves instead of only using photos to show what cells look like.
I have goals in being able to show my students this. I will always strive to find what I can do work with what I have, but with microscopes, I'd like to receive more so they can be available for the majority of the students in my class.
