My students in grades 6-12 studying science in rural South Carolina, need to be able to use microscopes correctly and successfully.
Too many times my rural students proceed to college where they feel unsuccessful and embarrassed about their lack of ability to use microscopes successfully. This is mainly due to low number of microscopes available for students to practice using this piece of science equipment. Due to this internal feeling they would rather avoid science than pursue this career path.
By adding more microscopes for students to practice using in high school, they will get more time in using the science tool to become more proficient in finding organisms. This success will allow students the feeling of efficacy to continue a career in the sciences.
Your help will ensure that all my students have the equipment necessary to become experienced novice scientists when they leave the high school to pursue their individual career paths in college.
