My Students

Seeing students excited about science has been the greatest gift since joining DonorsChoose. Your donations make hands-on learning and inclusion a reality in my classroom!

We are a rural, low-income school district surrounded by farmland, which many students live and work on.

Many of my students are tactile or kinesthetic learners who enjoy being able to get out of their desks, move around, work with their hands, experiment, and create things. I also have a unique group of learners with special needs who often require modified instruction to achieve success in our science class.

My Project

Microscopes are one of the most important tools used in life science. However, it is always a challenge when there are not enough microscopes to accommodate all of my student lab groups. When working with microscopes, no more than two students per group is effective because students have to take turns looking through the microscope. I would love to get an additional microscope for my classroom to optimize student participation and learning with smaller lab group sizes. This donation would help decrease the chaos on lab days because students would not have to wait as long to look through a microscope.

Having an additional 100x lens microscope will allow students to see cells and other specimens closer than ever!

Having an additional microscope would also give students more time and opportunity to use this valuable tool in our class. It will allow students to visualize our class content and gain a deeper level of understanding for life and the biological sciences. This particular microscope has a stronger magnification capability than the normal high school microscope which will allow students to view objects and organelles they would not otherwise see.
