My Students
My biotechnology classes are filled with bright juniors and seniors at a wonderful arts focused high school in Northern California. They are highly motivated and head towards college. They are also funny, bright, and wonderful to be around.
Biotechnology is the wave of the future in science and my students need access to modern technology to learn the real-world lab skills that will help them in college and the workplace.
These students are actively involved in the science program and biotech is for most of them their last high school science course.
My Project
By funding this project, you are providing my students with the technology they need to do cutting edge labs in biotechnology. Micropipettes allow students to work with very small volumes of reagents accurately which makes our work with DNA and proteins possible.
We need the proper tools to complete all of our lab projects and these micropipettes are a huge part of that.
As the school year progresses, the students will be able to extract DNA from food sources to see if they have been genetically modified, grow bacteria, perform a forensic analysis to solve a crime, and look at their own genetic code for variation. It is essential that they have the proper tools in order to succeed.
