My students have a voice and they want to be heard. Whether in life or through a performance they have something important to say. We are asking for both traditional and cordless microphones and stands for our music class so that when we perform or have assemblies we can be heard and understood.
My students are amazing children who deserve all of the opportunities we can provide for them.
Our school is a Title 1 school and the majority of my students are considered to be "at-risk" either because they qualify for free or reduced lunch or because they are learning English as their second language. Speaking in front of a crowd audience is quite daunting for most people but my students embrace the opportunity even though most of them are speaking in their second language. Every day they face and overcome the hardships of poverty. They love learning and are eager to share what they know with their families and the community who support them by attending our performances. I am inspired every time they perform.
My Project
I am requesting a "stage" set that includes two microphones, two cords and two traditional upright microphone stands for soloists and small ensembles. I am also requesting four cordless microphones for times when the performers on stage need to engage in quick dialog or speak while moving. Additionally, I am requesting two boom microphone stands that will be used when students are playing instruments. This equipment will essentially cover all of our needs when we perform in our cafeteria and ensure that not only will our students be seen performing, but they will also be heard clearly.
Imagine the pride my students feel as they stand up in front of their classmates, families and friends to perform.
Often, these performances provide a chance for even the most unlikely student to shine. If you want to keep an audience engaged in the performance it is critical that they can hear. Help us provide a way for our students to be heard loud and clear at every performance for years to come!
