Micro-Garden Project for Urban High School Students

Help me give my students the tools they need to build innovative micro gardens in the classroom

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. O'Neill's classroom raised $719

My Project

We are launching an exciting micro-gardening project that promises to cultivate not just plants, but also crucial skills and opportunities for our urban high school students.

This micro-gardening initiative will transform our classroom into a dynamic living space.

Through this project, students will:

Cultivate Essential Life Skills: From planning and planting to nurturing and harvesting, students will gain practical skills in responsibility, teamwork, problem-solving, and patience.

Connect with the Natural World: In an increasingly digital world, this project offers a vital opportunity to connect with nature, fostering an appreciation for the environment and promoting a sense of stewardship.

Enhance Academic Learning: Micro-gardening provides a tangible link to various subjects, including biology, environmental science, and nutrition.

Promote Healthy Habits: By growing their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs, students will learn about healthy eating and the importance of fresh, locally sourced food. This can foster healthier choices and a greater understanding of nutrition.

Build Community and Ownership: Working together in the garden will strengthen bonds among students and create a sense of ownership and pride in their school environment.

Foster Innovation and Creativity: Micro-gardening encourages experimentation and creative problem-solving as students learn to adapt to different growing conditions and find innovative solutions for small spaces.

Your generous contribution will directly support the establishment and sustainability of these micro-gardens. Funds will be used to purchase:

Hydroponics system

seeds, and seedlings

Containers, tools, and watering systems

Educational resources and materials

By investing in this project, you are not just donating to a garden; you are investing in the future of our students. You are providing them with hands-on learning experiences, fostering vital life skills, and nurturing a deeper connection to the world around them. You are helping us sow the seeds of opportunity and cultivate a brighter future for our urban youth.
