My Project
I have been gifted the opportunity to solve real-world problems in the community with innovative, creative, and wise scholars. Here at SKTCS, the neighborhood is our learning lab. We will use Micro Bit hand-held computers to investigate environmental problems in the community and offer solutions. Because our school is small, we can take our learning on the go and enjoy the outdoors. We will use the method of cooperative learning to build friendship groups while exploring issues and experimenting with the scientific method to yield creative solutions. We will partner with community organizations and businesses so that collectively, the neighborhood will work together to address needs. Empathy is a major tenant of our school's charter. Students care about their fellow man. Projects that we will begin with are the examination of flooding, testing soil, acquiring learning needs for the preparation of a community garden, and assisting the homeless. Together, we will leave the community better than we found it for all to enjoy.
