My Students

Our school is a Pre-K through grade 5 community and Title I school servicing children predominantly from a Housing Development in Brooklyn.

We focus on providing STEM instruction in all academic subjects to foster collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking.

Our curriculum centers around Project-based and service learning experiences. We encourage our students to be tinkers and thinkers as they create, design and find solutions to various problems. As a school of choice, we aim to provide students with 21st Century skills which incorporate global awareness and civic citizenship.

My Project

My students need mice for Computer Programming. I work with students with Individualized Education Plans, students on the Autism Spectrum and General Education students. My classes are mixed and diverse. Some of the students receive Occupational and/or Physical Therapy.

Whether we are coding with Scratch or programming in Minecraft, the dexterity of using a mouse during class adds another level of skill necessary for success.

Having the necessary tools, like mice, available for use is important and caters to each child's individual need. The mouse will help them maneuver their characters around the screen and build with ease.

Students will be creating games from scratch to share with others to play, determining the velocity and parameters of the game. They will also create worlds in Minecraft based on a given theme.
