it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is to raise some money for a restock of our classroom headphones. At the beginning of the year, we raised money for new headphones so that students could practice their foundational reading skills in the classroom with a computer program called Amira Reading. At the end of the year, students have grown tremendously in their confidence and their reading ability. To get into the specifics, students in my classrooms grew at an average rate of 4 percentile from the beginning of the year assessments to the end of the year assessments. While that is amazing, what's more exciting is the intangible but ever present confidence that some of my lower level students are gaining through this practice. This program really helps students develop their basic skills!
