This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic musicians who love to learn. They are expert recorder players and were delighted to learn that this week, our DonorsChoose project for real flutes was funded! But now we need method books so the students can play as an ensemble at school and practice on their own.
My students attend a K-8 public school in a high poverty urban community in New Jersey.
They can play the plastic recorder with the best of them--but now that our school has received a class set of real flutes, they are really going to take it to the next level!
My Project
If my students receive these method books, they will be able to practice at school like a real woodwind ensemble. Each student will also be able to take his or her method book home and practice. These method books even include CDs so the students can practice along with a recorded accompaniment.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom because these method books will help my students play as an ensemble.
It will increase the amount of time that my students will play outside the classroom as well and give them the support they need to be prepared for music each day.
