My Project
I absolutely love how eager and enthusiastic my kindergarteners are about stories! Their eyes light up during read-aloud time, especially when the story is silly, engaging, and full of expressive characters. Most of my students are Emergent Bilinguals, and listening to rich language through stories helps build their vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence in English. The Mercy Watson books by Kate DiCamillo are perfect for this. They’re full of fun adventures, expressive illustrations, and repetitive phrases that help young readers make connections. By giving each child their own copy to follow along with during read-alouds, they’ll develop important print awareness and start seeing themselves as real readers. These books will make reading time even more magical while supporting language development in a joyful, meaningful way.
