Help me give my students the opportunity to participate in book clubs with a reading mentor. This project will allow each student to read a book they individually selected along with a reading mentor.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our middle school students all have an Individual Education Plan that reflects their individual needs and reading levels. As we encourage them to read, they have selected books that they would like to read along with a reading mentor (adult) in our class. This project will engage them to take the time each day to read for pleasure as they take part in a book club.
Students will select their preferred sitting and have their mentors model, share and discuss what they are learning as they read daily in the Mentors As Reading Partners Club.
This project will benefit multiple classes and as they develop as readers, they will also develop in other areas that include self-confidence and sharing as a community of learners.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
