This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last year I got a donation of soaps for the students. I gave out about fifty soaps, and when I was finished, students continued to ask me for soap products all year long. I didn't realize that soap would be so popular with my high school students. However, many of my students come from larger families, where just buying toiletries can be a strain on the family budget. I believe that you can't feel good about yourself on the inside if you don't feel good about yourself on the outside. How you present yourself to the world and how the world perceives you is directly linked to your mental health.
Not feeling clean and smelling clean can have a negative impact on a child's ability to concentrate in school and a child's ability to bond with other students, which is a very important part of growth and socialization for students.
So I would like to make around fifty packs of hygiene products, including soap and deodorant, for students who need them. The goal of this project is to support student mental health by providing them with personal care products.
