it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Mental health is increasingly recognized as a critical aspect of overall well-being. Books, games, and art supplies are powerful tools that can support mental health by offering emotional relief, cognitive stimulation, and creative outlets for self-expression.
Books: Emotional Escape and Cognitive Engagement - Reading offers a mental escape from daily stress, providing a temporary break from anxiety and worry.
Fiction allows readers to immerse themselves in different worlds, fostering empathy and offering emotional relief. Non-fiction books, particularly those focused on self-help and mental health, provide practical strategies for managing emotions and coping with difficult situations. The act of reading itself also stimulates the brain, helping to improve focus and reduce mental fatigue, which can often accompany stress and anxiety. Books will be used in wellness spaces.
Games: Cognitive Stimulation and Social Interaction - Games, whether digital or physical, engage the brain through problem-solving, strategy, and critical thinking. Board games promote relaxation and focus. Multiplayer games foster social interaction, helping to reduce feelings of isolation by connecting players with others. In addition, games teach perseverance, adaptability, and resilience, which are important skills for managing stress and maintaining mental health. The sense of accomplishment from completing a challenging level or task in a game can boost self-esteem and provide emotional satisfaction. Games will be used in wellness corers of classroom.
Art Supplies: Creative Expression and Stress Relief. Art supplies like paints, pencils, and clay offer a means of self-expression, allowing individuals to process emotions that may be difficult to articulate with words. Creating art provides a therapeutic outlet for stress, anxiety, and sadness. The process of making something creative encourages mindfulness, helping to quiet the mind and focus on the present moment. Completing an artwork also fosters a sense of achievement and can improve overall mood.
