Mental Health Matters!

Help me give my students the Mental Health First Aid to teach them the importance of being healthy mentally so they can navigate all the emotions that middle school brings.

My Project

Mental health has been a stigma for years and my goal is to teach my students that mental health is just as important as physical health and how to manage all the emotions that life brings us.

Middle school is the hardest time in a students life and as the counselor, I want to be there to teach them important coping skills to help them navigate all the changes in a healthy way by meeting all of their needs physically, emotionally and academically.

Effective coping skills benefits the whole child and teaches them how to handle life in all aspects. Being healthy mentally will also help them when choosing a career, standing up to peer pressures such as drug and alcohol use and taking a stand against bullying.

Healthy coping skills and knowing what to look for in mental health situations will last a lifetime and enable them to become successful not just in middle school but in whatever they chose to do after high school.
