This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students are in a stage of their life where they have witnessed or been a victim of traumatic experiences. Middle school is already a period in child development in which teenagers struggle. They have difficulty processing their emotions in healthy ways which only adds to their trauma not being resolved. This project aims to supporting my student in learning healthy coping skills along with finding joy in the healing process.

My students deserve to be supported in dealing with their trauma.

The reason which I am making this project is to provide them with the necessary tools to cope with their emotions. Whether it is a DBT activity, a deck of cards that they can go through, guided art therapy activities, or a weighted stuffed animal to hug on the most difficult days. Dealing with difficult emotions should not be daunting to my students it should be something they feel empowered and supported in doing.
