My Project

Gaming and stem activities can often be isolating and lonely. 84% of students who participate in esports have never participated in any other school activity. Through my esports program, I want to create a space in person, at school, where kids can come together to build relationships, make friendships, and talk about things they have in common.

Many gamers spend a lot of time alone or hiding behind a computer so I have a goal to draw them out of their isolation and bring them together to build real life relationships.

In order to accomplish that goal, I need a place that is inviting and welcoming. I plan to put a corner in my esports room that is just for hanging out and socializing. The rug and the bean bags will make a comfy space so that kids will want to come and hang out with friends and make new friends. The lights will make for a nice vibe that turns the room into less of a classroom and more of a space dedicated to the kids and building their relationships.

Many of my students tend to eat lunch alone. I want to change that by drawing them into a safe and welcoming space just for them!
