My Students
Inclusive Classroom is Mental for Math. Some of my students have difficulty applying math skills to everyday life, others just get frustrated and give up. These wonderful tools and resources would change all of that. My students need and are eager for activities that make math come alive.
Overcrowded inclusive classroom in a NYC Public School.
The students are Title 3 lower income students. My classroom has students with varying degrees of special needs with a variety of different learning styles. Despite this they work very well together and they all love and get excited for math!
My Project
Inclusive Classroom is Mental for Math
My students need a center-styled classroom to engage each learning style. Each center would have a clear focus and specific task to fully engage each student. To be successful with this project, the students need manipulative's to use with hands on activities, math games to keep their fluency in the skill going, and Âreal world problems to solve. We would like to use these resources to make our project as successful as it can be while making math come alive. From measuring angles with a protractor to using place value cards to explore expanded notation, my children will get hands on math practice as they complete 50 activities aligned to every Common Core State Standard! It is a ready to use center with enough materials for up to 4 students to work at once, including 4 sets of hands-on materials, plus 50 activity cards that are each aligned to a specific standard.
My commitment to my students is to make sure that learning is not only productive, but exciting too!
Eager for activities that make math come alive. This donation would improve their overall outlook towards math. It would make math real and tangible and would benefit the variety of learners in our room. With the real world math kit my students will solve the types of problems they they encounter every day, from paying restaurant bills to calculating prices using fractions and decimals.
