This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our middle school is a Title I school with over 80% of its students having free or reduced-price lunch. I am one of the AVID elective teachers.

AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

AVID aims at bringing the student who is in the academic middle, placing them in rigorous, college-preparatory classes, and teaching them the skills they will need to be successful in college and in their future careers.

My Project

We have several family nights planned for our sweet AVID families.

We would like to be able to document these events with photos that will last forever.

Foremost, we need to a way to get our families into these events. With Hurricane Harvey barely in our rear view mirror, it has become increasingly difficult to get our parents involved. With the help of raffled prizes, we can draw attention to our events. Some of these families lost everything, so with the help of Kindle Fires and Beats Earbuds, we are sure to get our families in. Once families come to one event and see all of their students' recently created work and have a ton of fun playing Bingo, trivia, and watching family movies, they are sure to come to all of the events for the rest of the year.

The added bonus is that we will be able to take family photos and document all of the fun we are having with the Nikon CoolPix camera.
