My Students
“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”
― Malala Yousafzai
My 2nd grade students rock! I teach to two second grade classrooms at a Title I school, where over 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. In spite of the hardships and challenges my students may face, they arrive at my classroom every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn.
Our school serves students from a low income and high poverty area. My students deal with challenges in the classroom and at home. When a child walks into my classroom, I want them to feel special and forget any hardships they may be going through.
My Project
Memories last a lifetime! For the past 17 years I have made memory books with my students so they can always remember the wonderful experiences we have shared as a class. This year I would like to make t-shirts along with memory books so they can hold on to these memories forever. With a Cricut Explore 2, students can create their own t-shirt designs using the program that comes with Cricut, cut them out, and display their work.
As they say the best gifts in the world are not the ones we buy in store, but the memories we make with the people we love.
With a Cricut, students will be able to explore graphic design, new computer programs, and get creative all while having fun. A Cricut Machine will allow us to make books and t shirts to cherish for a lifetime. In having this Cricut machine they will be able to use the machine to design and create their own shirt and memory book. In giving my students the opportunity to design and create will make them proud of not only what they have created but also the memories cherished throughout the year. These creations they have designed will be remembered and shared for many years.
