This project is fully funded

I teach a Cross-Categorical Special Education classroom. My students are Kindergarten age. The students have a variety of disabilities, such as autism, cognitive disability, developmental delay and/or emotional disability. These children live in a low income area and have limited opportunities to leave their homes for educational/fun activities.

The parents of my students struggle to provide the necessary items the children need on a daily basis. The children love to have their photos taken and love it even more when they get to take them home, see them hanging in the room or see themselves and their friends in a classroom book. The families are thrilled to have photos since most aren't able to afford cameras, film and developing. The classroom photos provide them with memories of their child's kindergarten year and all their accomplishments.

I need a digital camera and memory cards. I take the memory cards to a local store and have copies made. These photos go into classroom books, hang on the wall, are used for assessments, go home as Christmas and Mother's Day cards and are made into books to go home at the end of the year with the children. The students will benefit from reading the classroom books that are made, promote discussion and build vocabulary skills, build memory skills, and expand their social skills.
