Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When children learn piano, it can significantly improve their fine motor skills, cognitive development, musical understanding, concentration, discipline, and self-confidence, while also fostering creativity through the ability to express themselves musically and learn music theory; playing piano also helps develop hand-eye coordination and can positively impact brain development by creating new neural pathways.
These pianos will create opportunities for my students to have individual time practicing the piano skills learned in our music classroom.
We are a dual-language, Title I campus. Our students face many limitations due to their financial status. Our families and school strive to overcome these limitations and provide opportunities for them to thrive. Learning piano has been proven to increase dexterity, intelligence, concentration, and self-confidence. It is my dream that all of my students will achieve basic piano skills that they will transfer to other music disciplines, such as band, orchestra, and choir as they get older.
