My Students
Students love to sing! Especially when they are accompanied by a live instrument. We begin every class with our kindergarten through fifth grades by singing together as a class. The sound of the guitar would make this even more enjoyable.
Our school serves a population of approximately 600 students, grades Pre-K through 5, with 61% of our students on free or reduced lunch.
Simply put, our students are the type of children that you would move heaven and earth for in order to help them be successful and productive citizens. Our administration and staff have dedicated themselves to giving these children every opportunity we can provide to help these children become prepared for future challenges. The students are very hardworking and are eager for new and different experiences that they can learn from.
My Project
Our younger students will use this guitar in an activity that we call the "Melody Walk". Each student has a microphone that he or she uses while marching around singing their melody walk theme: "I Take a Little Walk! I take a Little Walk! I Take a Little Walk and and Then I Stop and Sing!" After each melody walk theme is sung, the students stop, raise their microphones, and sing a nursery rhyme song such as " Starlight, Starbright," "Itsy Bitsy Spider," and "Engine Engine #9." The older kids would use this guitar to learn their partner songs and for demonstration during guitar class. We would also use this guitar to accompany students songs during our concerts.
Studies have shown time and again that a comprehensive music education is essential to success in both the academic and personal realms.
Discipline, hard work, and success are the ideals that music strives to install in our children.
These capos will help them to achieve these ideals. A well rounded music education is essential for a student's success, both academically and personally.
