My students need basic items such as toothbrushes, socks, combs, tooth paste and deodorant to help them feel as though they are prepared each day, especially during the summer months.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine living a life that is filled with so many changes. One day you are living in a home with your family, next you are living in a shelter or even in a totally different country. Many of our students wake up each day having to adjust and deal with a change because of circumstances that are out of their hands and out of their control. They still have to come to school ready to learn and be successful in their learning each day.
With so many changes going on within the lives of our students they come to school each day working below grade level.
Students struggle in all subject areas and try hard to continue to grow. Although students struggle, they are excited to come to school each day ready to learn and work hard.
My Project
These toothbrushes, socks, combs, tooth paste and deodorant will help to prepare my students in making sure they take care of themselves and their hygiene through their preteen years. Many times, many of our students do not know or are not aware of their changing bodies and how to make sure they are ready for each day to feel good about themselves. There are days when my students don't come to school because they do not have anyone at home to help to teach them or support their changes in life.
As we age and grow, it is really important to understand your body and the changes and how to take care of the changes.
If a child is not taught how to properly take care of these changes this may cause low self esteem and bullying from their classmates. In order to prevent this your help and support with this project will help my students to learn and understand how to take care of their every day needs.
