My Project
Our students are young adults who have been given a second chance to obtain their high school diploma. The reason these students have been enrolled in an alternative high school is partly due to the many social ills they face.
Many of the students are parenting students, living in group homes, in homeless situations, and living on their own.
The requested items of lotion, toothpaste, diapers, baby wipes, and snacks will address some of the social barriers. When students come to school hungry we will have snacks to give them, which supports learning and concentration. When students come to school with personal hygiene issues, we can address their needs with personal care items. This will take the focus off of hygiene, and place it on a student's academics. When students don't have diapers, wipes, and other baby items to properly care for their children, they're less likely to focus on learning and academics.
Our goal is to support education and student achievement by meeting the basic needs of our students.
