My Students

I have a very active group of 3rd graders. We spend a lot of time working as a class on the floor. I want my students to be able to perform at grade level by the end of the year in all content areas. The biggest challenge I face getting them there is keeping their attention.

I have 16 wonderful boys and girls in 3rd grade.

They really enjoy working and talking with each other. My students are quick to offer support to each other throughout the day regardless of the task. We are part of a Title I school and these kiddos come with very limited resources. Our school works very hard to acknowledge each students' individual success. We also recognize class and building successes.

My Project

My students will be using this area rug throughout the day this year. We will meet at this rug for whole group activities during reading, writing, math and other times. Because my students are so active, this rug will help them visualize their spot which will then allow learning to happen quicker. They will know whether they are in their personal space or if they need to make adjustments. With this rug, my students will be able to concentrate on learning.

By donating to this project, my students lives will improve because they will be learning.

With comfortable personal space, my students will be able to focus on the teacher and instruction rather than who is sitting where and how uncomfortable the floor is.
