This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the new year starts, we are looking to extend the growth that we started last year. Creating a classroom that is warm, inviting, soothing, and beautiful is an important goal of serious teachers. Many of our students do not have the stability that they crave—our classrooms stand in the gap. This mini-grant will provide a meditation/relaxation space inside the classroom as well as lights for the entire room. Our ceilings are industrial and cold and the fans add depth and warmth. I take great pride in my classroom. Students know my room as "the pink one with the lights."
The mini-refrigerator (yes, it's tiny but kiddos understand) will allow students to keep yogurt or fruit in the classroom as I have students who spend their lunch in the classroom.
Students feel nurtured and protected in a loving and warm environment. We are so deeply grateful for your generosity and understanding of the power of space.
