This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social-emotional learning has become an everyday activity in my classroom. During our extended block periods, I have introduced my students to the benefits of meditation. Meditation provides my students with a way to reduce negative emotions, increase self awareness and build skills to manage stress.

I want to provide my students with an alternative lighting area that is more conducive during our meditation sessions.

Not only will the lights help during the meditation sessions but will provide engaging visual aides during regular class time. Some of the overhead lights don't have covers and when showing video clips or modeling on the computer, the lights glare off the board making it difficult to see. These lamps, string and rope lights will create a more welcoming and warm atmosphere in my classroom.
