My Students

Our media center is the hub of our school. Every student, teacher and staff member walk through the library weekly. It needs to be an area that is welcoming and inviting and warm!

Our students are wonderful kids!

There are approximately 495 students in our school. We live in a very rural area. Our parents are very supportive, but they do not have the funds to contribute to the needs of our school. We have students in grades PreK-5th. We also house a large community of students with exceptional needs. About 85% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Our school offers wonderful programs to help our families out as best as we can. We have a cubhouse full of supplies, such as food, clothing, household needs, sanitary needs, etc. We help parents with heating and cooling, power and even housing, sometimes. All of our staff members work hard as a community to make sure ALL of the needs of our students are met.

My Project

My students need a large area rug for the library. Our media center is in major need of updating. The resources and furniture in the library has been here for almost 25 years. A lot of it is in bad shape! One major improvement would be a new large rug for our storytime area. Every student uses our reading area when they visit the media center. Visiting authors and guest readers also use our storytme area. Our current rug is stained and unraveling! It would be the first step to updating and improving our media center!

At WMES we teach our students to take pride in their work and be respectful of their surroundings.

They work hard to clean our school and keep it neat. I would like to show them that I take pride in our media center, and I want it to look nice for them, as well as people from our community that come in to our library. A nice, new rug would really add to our storytime area! Thank you so much for your consideration!
