Media Arts and Microscopy

My students need a digital microscope and camera to capture the astounding details of various biological specimens.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you sat at a microscope and discovered the “hidden Lincoln” on the penny? Have you ever observed the delicate wings of a butterfly? My students are anxious to capture these beautiful images in digital photographs to create a media library.

I teach 135 brilliant, creative students at an urban college-prep arts school in Pennsylvania.

My school encourages our students to think creatively and to infuse art and technology into core classes such as Biology. My students love the hands-on lab work that we perform in Biology class, and they are always ready for more!

My Project

My students are fascinated with the hidden world of microscopy! They would love the opportunity to create a gallery of digital photographs highlighting various images of microscopic materials. The digital microscope and equipment will allow my students to capture their images in precise detail, and to share their work to the on-line community. With the incorporation of media arts and technology, my students will instantly be captivated and excited to conduct microscopy labs in Biology class!
