My Students
The theoretical physicist Stephen Hawkins once said, "science is not only a disciple of reason, but also, one of romance and passion." When I was in sixth grade, I found my passion for science because I was afforded the opportunity to learn from an incredible teacher and was given access to the tools and resources that piqued my curiosity of the natural world. I wish for my students to receive the same education I had.
My students deserve opportunities to observe, classify, measure, predict, infer, and communicate the happenings of our natural world.
Like most 11-12 year olds, my students are beginning to develop a taste their own interests. The students in my class are amazing, and I would like to ensure that they have access to some of the most wonderful tools and resources available. By funding this project, you are helping me expose my students to the marvels of science and allow them to follow their own curiosities.
My Project
As an amazing science teacher, I want to ensure that my students have a fundamental grasp of the six processes of science. One of these six prominent processes of sciences focuses on a students ability to accurately take and read measurements. In order for this to happen, I am in need of the required resources and tools.
I want my students to show interest in Science Education by doing captivating hands-on labs and/or activities in class.
In this project, I am asking for six stations worth of balance scales and the appropriate weights. These scales will be useful in numerous labs throughout the school year. In addition, I am asking for 12 sets of spring scales, that measure the amount of force (in Newtons) for the upcoming physical science unit.
Whether measuring the mass of an igneous rock, soil samples, etc. with the balance scale or the amount of force a cube being pulled to the surface of the planet, these tools will give students real opportunities to apply science understanding in a cool hands-on way.
This project is important to me, because I want my student to be captivated by the science lessons I teach. I hope that my passion and determination will ignite the interest in students, ensuring that they will excel and develop a passion of their own for all things.
