Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With your support, these thermometers and the dissolved oxygen probe will give my students the opportunity to engage in hands-on science labs, exploring water quality, aquatic ecosystems, photosynthesis, and soil health in meaningful ways. For many of my students from low-income backgrounds, access to scientific tools like these is rare, and they may have little experience using equipment outside of a classroom setting. These tools will open doors for them to gain practical skills in measuring environmental factors, such as temperature and oxygen levels, that are essential for understanding ecosystem health.

In water quality experiments, students will learn to analyze dissolved oxygen—a crucial factor for aquatic life—and understand its impact on species survival and ecosystem balance.

In studying soil and photosynthesis, they’ll observe how temperature and oxygen affect plant growth and sustainability. Through these experiences, students will develop confidence in handling scientific instruments and gain deeper insights into environmental science, fostering curiosity and essential skills that go beyond the classroom. Thank you for helping them grow as young scientists!
