This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Meters, Liters, and Grams- Oh My! My students struggle to learn the metric system, but with this fun, colorful, simplified children's book called Millions to Measure, my students will be successful with measuring.
The sixth graders at a public school in Illinois are kind, energetic and creative.
They love using pictures and graphic aids to truly remember lessons. They also love moving from stations to stations to practice work in smaller groups. The second book I chose is just for this purpose.
My Project
Currently I have one copy of the book Millions to Measure to read to 100 sixth graders broken up into four classes. I read the story out loud to them in a circle and they pass the book around to see the pictures. I would love for them to have enough copies to partner read the stories out loud and actually be able to use the book as a resource to learn the metric system.
Please help my students to see the beautiful pictures and examples of the metric system in this fabulous children's book and station practice workbook.
They will never mix-up miles and meters, pounds and grams, and gallons and liters with your help!
