This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is located in Washington State at a Title I school. Students at my school are hardworking, kind, eager individuals. Many students are first and second generation citizens from Africa, South America, and Asia. Our differing cultures, backgrounds, economic statuses, and languages provide richness in the classroom, but we also face challenges. One challenge is that we are incredibly underfunded. At HV, 80-85% of students qualify for free and reduced school lunch. There are so many experiences and learning I wish I could have with our students if only I had the means.

My Project

The time spent in the morning as students arrive is often filled with meaningless busy work. Teachers need to collect things, take attendance, and get things sorted.

With your help my students can miss zero learning time and have MEANINGFUL and DIFFERENTIATED morning work.

I have purchased the work but now need materials to help make this into a reality. This morning work will help students practice place value, sight words, addition, subtraction, and much more. However, buying it wasn't enough. My students still need binders to store this work in, sheet protectors so that they can reuse the sheets (SO WE CAN SAVE PAPER!!!), and Expo markers so that they can complete the work then wipe it off. Once students finish the write on wipe off activities for the day, there are math and literacy learning games to keep them engaged and learning until my morning work time is finished. No one can say, "I'm Done!" because there's always more to do! Better yet, what students are working on will help them to learn and be successful.

This will not only help my current 23 kids but all materials can be used for several years to come. Your donation can help students year after year. Please help by donating so that we can make our morning routine worthwhile!
