My Project
I am requesting math journals my students will use as a powerful supplement to the second-grade curriculum. The students can grow so much by using these journals during the school year. For example, the journals give real-life scenarios in their math problems. This helps bring each math standard to life! This will also give students the chance to work at home with their families on their math skills. What a great way to improve parental support!
The journal features 35 weeks of standards-based math problems.
I like that the journal is organized on a Monday through Friday design, where each day builds upon the next. I feel this format will be easy to follow for both the students and their families.
These practice journals will help the students explain their thinking in math while working on their conceptual understanding and procedural skills. All math standards from adding/subtracting within 20, to time and money are covered. These journals would be an asset for home and school use. I would also use these as an assessment tool, to see how an individual or even the whole class has mastered a specific standard. These will also serve as a review before major tests.
