Help me give my students a variety of hands-on materials, such as numbers bingo and dice, to develop their math skills in fun and engaging ways.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a resilient group of Kindergarteners who come to school eager to learn, regardless of what may be going on at home.
Many of my students arrive as early as 7:00 am and leave as late as 6:00 pm.
while parents are working in the nearby industrial area. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and all qualify for free or reduced breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Our school was founded on project based learning and we encourage our scholars to ask questions and think critically in all subject areas.
My Project
Picture yourself back in elementary school. All day long each student worked on the same worksheet at the same time right? Successful classrooms don't look that way anymore. Students learn in different ways and they need opportunities to explore and work through problems on their own.
Working on math in a small group, or with a partner, will help my students to think critically, collaborate and negotiate to discover the correct responses rather than being told the correct answer.
These new games will allow my students to develop a greater number sense and have some fun while they do it! At this age it is critical that students realize that learning can be fun. Beginning their education in a positive and engaging setting will help set them up for a lifelong love of math.
