Our focus every year at BPE is to get more books in the hands of kids! We've had various projects to inspire readers from preK-5th grade, including a school-wide reading competition and a "lending library" in our entryway. Whenever new books are displayed in our library, in the classroom, or even in the entryway, students swarm the area, excited to find the perfect book. They'll trade books in the hallways, classrooms, and outside on the playground, carting them around in backpacks, lunch boxes, or carrying them in their hands.
Students at BPE LOVE getting new books and, even more, love talking about their newest read!
As a school-based specialist, I'll have kids in every classroom seek me out to tell me what they're reading. I love hearing them learn more about the world around them. We want to get new and relevant books in the hands of our kiddos, and these books will specifically support our multilingual Latinx students!
My Project
Our Latinx students come with such diverse backgrounds, and we want to round-out the materials in front of them to value and instruct our entire community. Lil' Libros books are created to affirm and support multilingualism - and written and illustrated by Latinx creators! These books will join other diverse texts in classroom libraries, revamping the materials put in front of children daily.
Every child deserves to see themselves in what they read and envision a future for themselves.
Lil' Libros are texts that will further support our Latinx students. Please help us put these beautiful books in the hands of kids!
