This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have some of the best students in our school even though they face many obstacles. Our campus is a Title I bilingual campus with over 80% of our students classified as economically disadvantaged. They deserve every opportunity to succeed and to be engaged in every part of their learning.

Student engagement is one of the many keys to us reaching our students and helping them fit into the ever-changing world they live in.

Our classrooms of today cannot continue to look like our classrooms of the past if we want our students to be problem solvers and use all the skills they need to be successful in the world they live in. Our spaces should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. We need to provide our students with choices so that they can be successful in their educational endeavors.

My Project

We have a nice variety of robots for our robot petting zoo, but we are always looking to add new robots that allow our students to use basic programming skills. We would like to add the MBot, Vortex robots, and BB8 robots to our robot petting zoo. These robots will not only help reinforce the drag and drop programming, but they will also allow students to think critically and problem solve as they assemble and complete challenges.

Our Title I bilingual students need to be challenged and have the opportunity to work with different tools and programs that will prepare them to meet the challenges of the real world.

Programming is becoming one of the top skills in today's world, and having these experiences now will help prepare them for the STEM world they are growing up in.
