We have an amazing group of students. They are willing to try new sports and activities with little hesitation. We just completed our brand new disc golf course on our school property. By giving my students the necessary equipment (golf discs), we're opening up a whole new world of disc golf to them. Each class has anywhere from 35-50 students. Having each students use an actual disc allows them experience the sport in its natural form. With the appropriate amount of discs, I can set an entire class on the course at the same time. From learning about golf etiquette to golf scoring, these students are learning to play a sport that is often times not available to them until later in life. Our course is not a dull flat course. It twists and turns throughout the hills of our PE fields. Because of the topography, many of the holes require some skill and perseverance. This is an important lesson that carries over into other areas of life. I want to be able to offer my students the chance to try something outside of the mainstream sports. We are already seeing the excitement grow with our students after a few weeks of introducing this new sport.
