Help me give my students Bee-Bot programmable robots and bee stickers so that they can learn about pollination, how to save the bees, and about coding all at the same time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a bunch of fun, silly, and curious kids. They love science. This new school year will be the first time my students will be receiving a bilingual STEM enrichment class. In this class, my goal is to make my students creative thinkers and problem solvers. I will introduce a problem through a reading and then give students activities that will push them to design and build models that create solutions to them.
In my STEM class I want to make my students real world problem solvers.
The Bee-Bots will be used to create a simulation of what real bees do in the world. We will read books on what bees do, and also books on bees being an endangered species. Students will have to create flowers and a path to get to them by programming their Bee-Bots. If the Bee-Bot does not get to the flower to pollinate it then they have to program it all over again to improve it. I love this idea because they will be practicing the engineering process all throughout the activity.
