My project needs six sets of leveled readers (levels 15-20). Each set includes about 20 books with titles such as Frog and Toad Are Friends, The Snowy Day, Addie, Bad Day, Where The Wild Things Are, Just Me and My Dad and Hattie and the Fox.

I am a reading teacher in a school with a 90% poverty rate. My work consists of small groups of struggling readers in third and fourth grades.
Last week as I was finishing up a group, one of my boys asked, "May I take this book home to read?" I am sad to say that we don't have enough books in our Book Room to allow students to take them home. The Book Room provides our teaching tools so that we can teach our struggling readers on their level. We simply don't have enough books to risk losing any of them. The answer that I had to give this little boy broke my heart. I have other types of books that I can send home but not leveled readers that are "just right" for each student.
Please help me! Children learn to read by reading. Practice is the missing ingredient with my students. Without "just right" books, they may never become fluent readers or learn to love reading. Having the appropriate books for my students is the key. These books can be used during independent reading as well as for practice at home.
You can make a difference by providing funds to purchase books that students can take home.
Thank you for considering my request for books.
