My Students
I am the Math Facilitator and Interventionist at a K-5 elementary school in a suburb of North Carolina. Our students are bright, eager to learn, and full of hopes and dreams. They come from a variety of backgrounds and work together in pairs, small groups, and individually to show mastery in all subject areas. This is my 27th year as an educator and I hope to provide our students with experiences they will forever remember!
I want this group of students to have all the necessary tools to apply their skills to higher level thinking and problem solving, while using 21st century skills and accessing a variety of educational resources- while loving their environment.
Students will work individually, with partners, and in small groups as they apply these skills. Students will work both at home in a virtual setting for 60% of the time, as well as at school 40% of the time.
My Project
Hand2mind VersaTiles are aligned to state standards and allow students to have an alternative to traditional practice skills practice. Grade 5 Titles cover operations and algebraic thinking - expressions and patterns, number and operations - whole numbers and decimals, fractions - add and subtract, measurement and data - convert and interpret, geometric measurement - volume, and geometry - graphing and 2-D figures.
This addition to our Math program will add a layer of review that allows students to practice important skills independently or with a classmate, while having fun!
Because these tiles are self-checking, students will be able to have immediate feedback to check for accuracy. Students are able to practice repeatedly if necessary, and build confidence.
