Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a fourth grade teacher at a New York City public school. My class is a CTT - sixty percent of the students are regular education and forty percent are special education.
We are focusing on increasing our math skills this year and have a few in class games we can play. We would love to be able to include technology into our mathematics curriculum through computer centered math games.
These games will not only give the students the extra "fun" time, but will allow them to increase their hand eye coordination and computer abilities.
Through using these games my students will be able to have a fun mathematical experience. These games will enable the students to practice basic multiplication and division facts. Many children in my class are struggling with the basic facts, which is preventing them from developing mathematically. By using games the students will be able to have a hands-on visual experience which many of the students need. The quick and accurate response that the students will receive from the games will also enhance their mathematical development.
The first unit of study that I would use these programs for would be the multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers. By using these games I hope to see my students build a solid foundation of the basic facts. This foundation will enable them to continue to develop their multi-digit math skills.
We can't wait to play!
