Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These coffee bar supplies for creating drinks will provide students with a hands-on, real-world way to apply mathematical concepts. By using items like a fridge and coffee machine and cups, students will practice skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions in a fun, engaging environment. This practical application of math will help solidify their understanding by connecting abstract concepts to everyday activities, making math feel more relevant and approachable.

The goal of this project is to enhance students' mathematical fluency by using a coffee bar as a setting for them to practice core concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and working with fractions.

Through this interactive experience, students will build confidence in their ability to use math in everyday scenarios. Additionally, this project aims to encourage collaboration and communication among students as they work together to solve real-life math problems related to coffee-making and customer interactions.

My students are curious, creative, and eager to explore new ways of learning. They have a natural interest in hands-on activities and enjoy solving problems in collaborative settings. What makes them special is their ability to think critically and creatively, often bringing fresh perspectives to challenges. This project taps into their enthusiasm for real-world learning, allowing them to see how math can be fun and practical while also fostering teamwork and social skills.
