My project needs materials in the five mathematics strands to build students' understanding of key concepts, as well as a storage rack.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Knight's classroom raised $297
This project is fully funded
I teach an inclusion class of fourth graders at a Title I school in a military community.
To better prepare students for the world, I'd like to teach Math in a Workshop type format. It is similar to Guided Reading, but with Math. While I am meeting with a small group of students, the rest of the class will be building life-long Math skills by practicing the five major strands of Math (Numbers and Operations, Geometry, Probability and Statistics, Measurement, and Algebra).
I'd like to have overhead math kits for numbers and operations and problem solving. I'd like geometric shapes so that students can see and feel the shapes I am teaching about. Place Value has always been a difficult concept for some students to grasp and this kit will allow students to work individually, in pairs, or in groups. The Geometry kit will provide students with real-world examples of concepts.
Since all students learn at different paces and styles, this small group format for Math will be beneficial to all students. It will let me enrich the students that need enrichment as well as to remediate with the students that need remediation.
Thank you for considering this proposal.
